Sad Statistics and Some Answers-Part Four
Commitment to Christian faith

Only 44% of born-again teenagers claim that they are "absolutely committed to the Christian faith".
In a representative nationwide survey among born-again adults, none of the individuals interviewed said that the single, most important goal in their life is to be a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

It is obvious from the above statistic that they did not interview me and some of you, because the most important goal in my life is to be a committed follower of Jesus Christ. And I know some teenagers that are absolutely committed to the Christian faith. But honestly, I know many more born-again people who live a life that would be considered carnal, or they continually allow other things to be more important than following Jesus Christ with their whole heart. They are more committed to following the latest sports, watching TV, or making money than following Jesus.

What does Scripture say about following the God of this universe?
Mark 12:30
"and you shall love the Lord your God with all your HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.' "

Luke 9:62
But Jesus said to him, "No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

Matthew 8:21-22
And another of the disciples said to Him, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." [22] But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me; and allow the dead to bury their own dead."

Rev. 3:15-16
"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I would that you were cold or hot. [16] 'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth."
(Did you know that being cold is not a bad thing? It helps to read the Bible in context, according to geography, history, and archaeology. Laodecia was a city located between Colossae and Hierapolis. Colossae had cold water that was very refreshing and good to drink. Hierapolis had many hot springs that were very therapeutic. Ladoecia's water from the Lycus River was lukewarm and not refreshing or therapeutic. That is why Jesus said to the church of Laodecia 'I rather you be hot or cold'. Jesus was not saying I rather you be cold-not serving Him. That is never His wish.)

It is obvious from Scripture that Jesus wants all of our lives-every area of our life. He is asking for a radical commitment to Him. And this is not just for ministers. It is for every follower of Jesus. In many ways, followers of false/dead Gods are more committed than Christians.

We have many excuses for not giving our whole life to God. But that is what they are, excuses. And our Creator, can see through all the excuses. It is time for the Body of Christ to rise up above their circumstances and be the army of God-committed soldiers for the commander in chief-The Lord Jesus Christ. It is time to say YES Lord!

Being a committed follower of Jesus Christ does not mean we won't make mistakes or we won't sin. What it does mean is that when we fall, we get back up and keep serving Him. He is not asking us to be perfect, he is asking us to trust in Him and allow Him to be the lover of our souls. And as we receive His love, we will pursue Him, love Him, and follow Him with all of our heart. And commitment is not based upon feelings, it is based upon a decision of our will. We will to be committed. We choose to be committed. We ask Him for strength to be committed. We encourage each other to be committed. We lay our lives on the altar. Our Lord is asking for us to commit our time, money, thoughts, hearts, emotions, bodies, everything within us.

Acts 17:28
for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His offspring.'
