BOLD AND COURAGEOUS, Part Two
How do you receive courage and boldness?

In the last nugget we let scripture answer the question "why we should want to be bold and courageous for God?".

The next question we have is: How do you receive courage and boldness?

Bold or courageous because others are praying for you

Ephes. 6:18-20
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Receive courage and boldness when we wait on God

Psalm 27:14
Wait for the Lord;
Be strong, and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.

Psalm 31:24
Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
All you who hope in the Lord.

Psalm 138:3
On the day I called Thou didst answer me;
Thou didst make me bold with strength in my soul.

Acts 4:31
And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak the word of God with boldness.

Bold or courageous because of God's promises

Deut. 31:6-7
"Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you." Then Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, "Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall give it to them as an inheritance.

Joshua 1:6-7
"Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. "Only be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Proverbs 28:1
The wicked flee when no one is pursuing,
But the righteous are bold as a lion.

Isaiah 35:4
Say to those with anxious heart, "Take courage, fear not.
Behold, your God will come with vengeance;
The recompense of God will come,
But He will save you."

Haggai 2:4
'But now take courage, Zerubbabel,' declares the Lord, 'take courage also, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and all you people of the land take courage,' declares the Lord, 'and work; for I am with you,' says the Lord of hosts.

How do you receive courage and boldness?
Have others pray for you; wait on God (this means more than doing nothing-it is seeking the face of God); reading His word and declaring His promises.

In our next nugget on boldness and courage, we will discuss how to practically apply the verses we have been reading.
