THE GRACE OF GOD-PART FOUR
HOLY SPIRIT IN THE COVENANT

"And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. [28] "And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God." Ezekiel 36:27-28

In the covenant of grace, the Holy Spirit is given to all believers. "The Holy Spirit was first poured out upon our covenant Head, Jesus Christ. From Him, then, the Spirit descends to all those who are in union with Christ." p. 81.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR QUICKENER (LIFE GIVER)
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life." John 6:63
"It is the spirit that quickeneth."KJV

We would have been "dead in trespasses and sins" (Ephesians 2:1) if it had not been for the Holy Spirit who made us alive.

By the Spirit we drew our first breath when we cried out for mercy, and from the same Spirit we continue our walk of grace and have eternal life.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR HELPER
"We need the Holy Spirit as our able Helper in all the duties we have to perform. We all need 'to be strengthened with might by his Spirit' (Ephesians 3:16) to do the 'good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.'" (Ephesians 2:10)

An Aide in Prayer
The Holy Spirit aides us in all our petitions to the throne of grace.

An Aide in Preaching
"Whatever your vocation is, whatever God has ordained you to do in this world, you are equally certain to have the assistance of the Holy Spirit in it. Seek strength from God as much for the humblest work as for the loftiest." p. 89.

An Aide in Every Endeavor
Whatever you work is, whatever God has ordained you to do, you are guaranteed the assistance of the Holy Spirit. Seek strength from God as much for the humblest work as for the loftiest.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR REVEALER
The Holy Spirit is given to the children of God as "the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of [God]". Ephesians 1:17. The Spirit brings us "out of darkness into his glorious light". 1 Peter 2:9.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR APPLIER
"As Jesus has made known the will of God the Father to His people, so the Holy Spirit makes known to us the words of Christ." p. 93. Jesus words in the Bible would have very little use to us if they were not instilled in us by the Holy Spirit.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR SANCTIFIER
"It is the Holy spirit who sanctifies the soul. He enters the heart, beginning the work of sanctification with conversion. He retains possession of the heart and preserves sanctification by perpetually pouring in the fresh oil of grace, until at last He will perfect sanctification by making the soul pure and spotless, fit to dwell with the blessed inhabitants of glory." p.96.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR GUIDE
"When he, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth". (John 16:13)

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR COMFORTER
Your heart and mind can be in great turmoil and then suddenly the Holy Spirit brings comfort to you from His word, a friend, a radio program, the singing of a bird. Oh how wonderful is the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS OUR GRACE
"I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep my judgments, and do them." Ezekiel 36:27. We can have victory over sin because of the grace of God being applied in our life through the Holy Spirit.

In the next nugget we will talk about "the Blood of the Covenant".
