Recycling cell phones, ink cartridges, toners

Recycling cell phones, ink cartridges, toners

It is our goal to reach out to the hurting, discouraged, and hopeless. One of the means of doing this is feeding, clothing, and counseling with the homeless and unfortunate.

We also believe in being good stewards and protecting our environment.

Donations of used cell phones and used ink/toner cartridges help to make this possible.

Improving Our Community

In His Steps Ministries, along with other ministries, works with individuals who have addictions, mental illness, and a variety of other issues. One of the main ways for us to reach out to the homeless and needy is to provide food and clothing. Once we are able to meet these physical needs we are able to help individuals obtain housing, counseling, obtain alcohol & drug treatment, and a variety of other services.

In His steps Ministries is able to improve our community by helping to reduce panhandling and getting the necessary help for individuals who may be a burden to society.

Our ministry receives a few dollars per cell phone/ink cartridge that we have recycled. These funds are used to feed and clothe the homeless and those who have special needs. Your organization by sponsoring our ongoing recycling fundraiser, is able to play a role in helping our community.

Sponsorship of our recycling fundraiser could not be easier. We only require you to post a flyer and to have a collection box at your location. You decide if you want to collect cell phones ink cartridges, laser/toner cartridges, or all three. We will regularly remove the items. As we obtain sponsors we will list sponsor locations as drop off centers on this website. We promote this website on the Internet. Become a sponsor and be recognized as an organization that is helping your community and helping the environment.

We may not receive stacks of money from our recycling program, but every dollar is helpful.

You have no idea how far a free hamburger and a pair of socks can go towards helping a person to change their life. Please help us to make a difference. We have individuals who have been off drugs and alcohol for over a year because of our meeting with them at one of our feeding programs. Call us today!

Protecting Our Environment
Recycling cell phones, ink cartridges, toners, feed homeless

Recycling cell phones, ink cartridges, toners, feed homelessOver 65 million cellular phones are stockpiled in U.S. households creating 30,000 tons of potentially hazardous waste. Your organization, by collecting used cell phones, can help reduce the hazardous disposal of cell phones.

Cell phones contain toxic substances including Arsenic, Antimony, Beryllium, Cadmium, Copper, Lead, Nickel and Zinc which leach into soil and groundwater from landfills and form highly toxic dioxins & furans during incineration. These toxins have been associated with cancer and a range of reproductive, neurological and developmental disorders. The cadmium from a single phone is capable of polluting 158,200 gallons of water.  (That’s 2.4 million 8-ounce sodas!)

Recycling cell phones, ink cartridges, toners, feed homelessEach year, American households and businesses consume and throw away over 300 million laser and inkjet printer cartridges. These cartridges contribute over 200 million pounds of solid waste to our nation's landfills.

It takes almost 3 ounces of oil to produce a brand new ink cartridge and over 1,000 years for the plastic in these inkjets to decompose. Considering that hundreds of millions of new cartridges are being produced while just as many cartridges are being thrown into the landfills, imagine what we can save if we recycle. We can conserve valuable resources and energy, save money, and reduce pollution all by remanufacturing these used cartridges.
